Family/Parental Support

There are several avenues through which the parents/carers could get support.

For information about the services provided by Canberra Child and Family Centres you may visit their website at www.act.gov.au/childandfamilycentres. A guide to their programs and services may also be downloaded by clicking here.

KidsMatter provides information sheets about helping children cope with separation distress, as well as

understanding and managing separation distress. For dealing with separation anxiety, the Raising Children website provides useful information and a guide which we have collated into this document.

The Migrant and Refugee Settlement Services (MARSS) offers -among many other programs, a free Program for After School Studies (PASS) for primary school and high school students who come from a non-English speaking background. PASS helps students who are between 8-25 during the ACT school term. A brochure detailing locations and times can be downloaded here. To apply with MARSS, please download and complete the following two forms (Global Clients Form and PASS Student Information Form).
